An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wasps to join our experienced sports medicine team. We are looking to recruit a Sport & Exercise Medicine Consultant with a special interest and proven track record in the management of elite athletes & preferably experience working in the elite Rugby environment.
This opportunity has come at a very exciting point in the club's history and coincides with the recent relocation to a new training facility based in the Coventry area.
The right candidate will be able to immediately add value to our forward thinking and dynamic multi-disciplinary Performance department. Job Description Role Summary:
The doctor will work alongside the Head of medical services & will lead 2 weekly Sports medicine & injury clinics at the training ground. Key Responsibilities:
Lead 2 weekly Sports medicine & Injury clinics at the training ground (Monday morning + Wednesday or Thursday morning)
Provide accurate diagnosis and provide advice on the management of all significant injuries in consultation with the Head Physiotherapist.
Interpretation of all medical investigations
Contribute to the overall medical plan via contributing to injury prevention initiatives & issues relating to clinical governance.
Provide support & mentorship to Academy Doctor. Must have:
Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)
Diploma or MSc in sport and exercise medicine
Can demonstrate that he/she has undertaken the necessary CPD specific to sport and exercise medicine
Professional indemnity insurance
Previous experience working with Elite Athletes as part of an MDT
Commutable distance to Coventry Highly desirable:
Have worked as a Sports Doctor in a Premiership/Championship club or equivalent for a minimum of three years at Senior Squad level
Immediate care in sport Qualification (ICIS)
Proficient in the use of & access to Diagnostic Ultrasound Responsible To:

Wasps Developing Player Programme (DPP)
“Providing high quality player development experiences, encouraging lifelong participation in the game and enabling those with potential to be clearly identified and supported.”
The Wasps Academy has responsibility for developing potential elite players in a geographical region that covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire, with a DPP Centre in each of the regions. The DPP’s are a step on the player development pathway, with successful players progressing into the Wasps Junior Academy.
With the continued development and expansion of the Wasps DPP we are looking to recruit for a number of roles across all of our regions.

Some of the roles will receive a small payment towards expenses, with other roles being on a volunteer basis. All successful applicants will receive Wasps kit as well as free access to CPD events run by Wasps.
The majority of the sessions will run weekly during the rugby season on Monday evenings. There will be approximately 20 sessions throughout the season.

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach to join the staff at Wasps RFC. Job Description
• Assist in the delivery of conditioning training sessions to the Wasps Senior First Team Playing Squad. Duties include:
Deliver best practice Strength and Conditioning to the Wasps Senior Squad.
Work in line with the Wasps Strength and Conditioning philosophy and curriculum as stipulated by senior
departmental staff members.
Assist with the scheduling and session delivery of injured players as required.
Maintain a good working relationship with all key personnel, colleagues and players as well as outside the
organisation, in order to support and promote Wasps.
To keep abreast of current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD
program with a bias towards Player Rehabilitation.
To carry out any other duties that may be required by management and are within the post-holders capabilities. Attributes & Behaviours:

Creates and maintains positive relationship with players to support their physical development needs.
A strong commitment to professional development. Shares ideas and information Essential:
Holder of a certified Strength and Conditioning / Sport Science specialist certification or related qualification (e.g. CSCS, BASES, UKSCA, BWL or similar) or willingness to work towards attainment.
BSc in Sport Science / Kinesiology or similar, or willingness to work towards attainment.
This a role comes with a high delivery bias, (with no assigned prescription, player training direction advice
or content design), therefore a highly motivated and personable individual with a strong presence is essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook) and Apple iWorks (Keynote/Numbers/Pages/Calendar).
Evidence of working in elite sport for a minimum of three years.
Personal experience and understanding of the scientific demands of elite level rugby.
Residence within 50-mile radius of Coventry Highly Desirable:
Have worked in a Premiership Rugby environment or equivalent for a minimum of three years at Senior Squad level
Holder of a Accredited First Aid Qualification, or willingness to work towards attainment.
MSc in Sports Science/Kinesiology or equivalent
