Wasps acquired the Ricoh Arena in October 2014 and set an Aviva Premiership attendance record for a home ground fixture in their first game at their new home, in December of that year. About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic Guest Services/Reception Team Members to join our team.

Key tasks will include;

  • Meeting, greeting and welcoming visitors in a professional and friendly manor
  • Opening up of the building and unlocking of function rooms around the venue as required
  • Answering incoming calls to the venue and directing to the correct departments or taking messages
  • Managing incoming and outgoing courier delivers
  • Filing correspondence, accurate record keeping, maintaining all guest services records as required.
  • Producing venue signage
  • Directing visitor’s to meeting rooms, managing VIP guests.
  • Fire marshalling – Managing the Event Fire Alarm System following venue processes

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous Corporate Reception experience
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Presentable in appearance at all times
  • Organised and efficient
  • Strong communication skills at all levels

The successful candidate

Excellent written, interpersonal and general administration skills with previous experience working in a busy reception desk environment

Enjoy working in a team but also be happy working independently using own initiative and possess the ability to prioritise work load

The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work outside of normal working hours and be prepared to adapt to deadlines dictated by an event.

Possess and demonstrate a customer service ‘can-do’ ethic with a strong client and customer focus, overcoming obstacles to solve problems and achieve results.

Hours of work

This is 40 hours per week, preferably 5 out of 7 days. The flexibility to work outside normal office hours and cover event days both match and non-match days is a requirement of this role due to the nature of tasks involved. This may include weekends and public holidays.

Job Title:             Sales & Revenue Administrator

About the role

An essential element of the role will be to manage all forms of the team’s data entry and manage the controls around this, ensuring compliance is achieved across the systems used. With a focus on ensuring all management reporting is completed effectively and meets agreed deadlines, this person will interrogate the reports and trackers for emerging trends and anomalies and share these with the Head of Sales. This will provide insight and allow for suggestions and discussions as to how best to use them to optimise sales.

Another key aspect of the role will be to monitor decisions that are being made by the team in relation to general enquiries and price and other enquiry related issues that may have a direct impact on the revenue and profit achieved.

Whilst this role will be located with the Sales team there will be some support required to the finance team on sales ledgers

Key tasks will include;

  • Reporting of MI information on sales and market segmentation, targets, KPI’s
  • To provide effective support to the C&E sales team to achieve targets
  • Driving conversion rates and challenging where appropriate
  • Ensuring analysis is done on each event to ensure all revenue and costs are captured, obtaining sign-off for all event calculators, ensuring our targets and margins are achieved
  • Full population of “The S&M Plan”
  • Recording, building and understanding the CPS and communicating with Head of Sales where the challenges are, including pace and market segmentation
  • Analyse sales ledgers to support and make recommendations regarding revenue
  • Obtain, analyse and produce accurate information ensuring decisions regarding collateral are made promptly
  • Identify and recommend appropriate new solutions to processes or client needs
  • To identify and report on hot bookings
  • Monitor and ensure chase calls are all up to date
  • To ensure that the team are compliant with all data entry standards
  • To coordinate, set the agenda and minute the team sales meeting and other meetings as required according to the Head of Sales.

Job Title:             Wasps Netball Head Academy Coach

About the role

The role will include work alongside the Wasps VNSL coaching team, the University of Birmingham performance staff and will also be part of the England Netball CPD programme. The aim of the role is to help develop the next generation of Wasps and England netball players.

Both Wasps and Wasps U21’s are current 2017 Champions whilst Birmingham University are a BUCS Premier League Team. This role gives the coach a perfect opportunity to work with some of the most talented age group players in the country and a chance to build on and create an elite performance programme through delivery, development and recruitment.

You will need to have experience of developing talented young players and coaching in a performance environment whether that be club, education or other pathway roles.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Netball Coach wishing to pursue a career in high performance coaching. It’s a chance to be involved with the current Superleague Champions on their journey to producing the best talent in the league, as well as help players develop the skills and talent to help England become number 1 in the world.

You’ll also cover any other duties which may be required from time to time as directed from the Director of Netball.

Job Title:               Academy Performance Analyst

About the role

To provide performance analysis support to the academy in line with the club’s vision. The main focus of the role is on filming, analysing and presenting information for the coaches and players to use.

This role is focused upon the use of analysis and feedback to aid learning and development within academy rugby players. It requires an understanding of the coaching process, and will involve working in co-ordination with coaching staff and the Academy Manager to optimise the use of feedback, in different ways, at different stages of the academy program.

Key tasks will include;

Record all academy fixtures and arrange for all other academy players to have their games recorded on a weekly basis (including DPP festivals/rep teams/university/school/club games).

• Analyse all games in line with academy directives, providing individual/team footage, statistics and performance trends that can be used by the players and coaches.

• Maintain an up-to-date senior academy player database of all games, statistics and trends across the season for each individual England Academy Player that can be used for learning and development.

• Provide reports and footage on identified local players in the associate academy and any players being scouted by the academy for review by the coaches.

• Manage and update an online website/web space so all academy players and their support networks can view all academy games, training sessions and presentations as directed by the coaches to promote off-site learning and understanding.

• Provide performance analysis support to the AASE Scheme at our AASE bases, Academy, including recording and analysing all their fixtures in line with academy directives.

• Manage and update the academy communication forums and other platforms for EAP communications and information sharing with their support networks and stakeholders, including individual player development activities.

• Manage and update an online sharing space for coach education purposes, including filming and uploading video footage from around the world to share good practice, promote the academy and to educate the wider rugby community.

• Liaise with Academy S&C coach and physiotherapist to monitor player game times as well as assist in any research projects, injury surveillance or player movement analysis.

The successful candidate

Experience working in a rugby environment.

• Experience of using NacSport, Sportscode software and knowledge of analysis equipment.

• Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.

• Initiative and creativity in finding and presenting information in a user-friendly way.

• Enhanced DBS clearance and a full driving license.

. Reside within a 30 minute commute to the club's training base in Coventry.

Job Title: Senior Academy Transitional Coach

Department: Rugby

Manager: Academy Manager 

Location: Wasps Rugby Club Training Ground, Broadstreet Rugby Ground

Term: Two year contract with three month probationary period; start date TBC

Position Overview

The purpose of this role is to provide the coaching and management of Senior Academy players.

Key Activities

  • Provide skill development sessions that include, core skills, position specific skills and game understanding during the training week, which includes the organisation, planning and delivery of these sessions.
  • Provide regular written development plans for Players, planned in conjunction with the Academy Manager and S&C staff.
  • Attend, review and provide feedback of games played by the players, both for Wasps, Loan Clubs and at Junior International level.
  • Conduct regular player performance feedback sessions with all Senior Academy players.
  • To attend meetings as required by the Director of Rugby and Head of Recruitment.
  • To contribute positively to the Academy environment and culture.
  • Full commitment to developing the players on and off the field, assisting with resolving any day to day issues and ensuring they are supported within the team environment and during their rest periods.
  • To provide coaching support for the Wasps A team . To attend all A team games.
  • Deliver coaching sessions for the non 23 squad players as directed by the Wasps skills coach.
  • Support /assist coaching the Wasps Academy u18 and u16 teams when required to , by the Academy Manager.
  • Working hours required:
  • 5 days per week to include weekends; 7.5hrs a day following the Rugby schedule. Exact working schedule to be agreed with line manager.

Key Skills Required:

  • Level 3 or above RFU Coaching Award
  • Previous Coaching experience at elite level
  • Preferably a specialist skill-set of Backs coaching and playing experience, however outstanding candidates will be also considered

Wasps Developing Player Programme (DPP)


“Providing high quality player development experiences, encouraging lifelong participation in the game and enabling those with potential to be clearly identified and supported.”

The Wasps Academy has responsibility for developing potential elite players in a geographical region that covers Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Coventry and Warwickshire, with a DPP Centre in each of the regions. The DPP’s are a step on the player development pathway, with successful players progressing into the Wasps Junior Academy.

With the continued development and expansion of the Wasps DPP we are looking to recruit for a number of roles across all of our regions.

Some of the roles will receive a small payment towards expenses, with other roles being on a volunteer basis. All successful applicants will receive Wasps kit as well as free access to CPD events run by Wasps.

The majority of the sessions will run weekly during the rugby season on Monday evenings. There will be approximately 20 sessions throughout the season.
