Alapati Leiua

The Samoan powerhouse who can play centre or wing joined Wasps for the 2014/15 season after the Super Rugby campaign, where he had been a standout performer for the Hurricanes.

Leiua made his Test debut for Samoa in the victory over Scotland in Durban in June 2013, and toured with Samoa on their end of year trip to Europe.

Missing the first part of the 2013 ITM Cup through injury, Leiua returned for the last four matches and played his 50th game for Wellington against Hawke’s Bay, impressing with his performances as Wellington reached the ITM Cup Final.

After joining partway through the season, Leiua played 16 matches and scored four tries during the 2014/15 season.

Leiua underwent surgery on his knee before the start of last season and made a comeback against Exeter in December, only to be hit with a season ending injury to his other knee after just four games.

Leiua has made another successful comeback this season and has already featured over 10 times this campaign.
